New drums: Big, bad . . . and blue

Vintage guitar and percussion gear has long been one of the trademarks of Wave Invasion. It's a key element in the band's classic surf sound. In June 2007, after many years of solid service, Wave Invasion drummer Jeff Dover retired his 1965 red sparkle Ludwig drum kit to bring in this new blue 1973 Ludwig Vistalite kit, featuring a 24-inch bass, 16-inch floor tom, 12- and 13-inch rack toms, 14-inch snare and classic Zildjian cymbals. The new kit is already bringing a bigger, richer sound to the group's awesome instrumentals. For a larger view, click on the photograph.
